Fur Coat Storage

Most people perceive that it's the temperature change that damages your furs, although that is partially true, it is not the biggest culprit. The change in humidity is the worst enemy of your fur coat!

The hot dry summer months will dry out, age and harden the leather of your valuable fur, as well as expose the hair to destructive insects. Our safe, insured cold storage vaults are temperature and humidity controlled to protect and revitalize your fur's supple qualities.

Every spring is time to store and service your valuable fur, leather and shearling coats. Do not forget about your cloth and wool coats and jackets either. According to the Fur Information Council of Canada, professional storage during summer months is most important in extending the longevity of your furs.

Keeping your garments at home during the summer could be a very costly mistake. Both standard and cedar closets are not suitable for storage unless they are equipped with proper air circulation, constant 50oF and 50% humidity to maintain valuable moisture. Caution! The smell from the use of cedar and mothballs will adhere to fur, leathers and wool, creating lasting unpleasant odors.
